Eleanor :: Five Months Old

Sweet Eleanor, here we are again... another month day where I get the opportunity to celebrate YOU! This past month was just SO much fun, yet again, you are just like fine wine... better with age :). I can only imagine where we are headed, because these past 5 months have been, hands-down, the greatest 5 months of our lives to date. You have become a very vocal, cheerful little girl - always squealing, or singing, or dancing, or all three at the same time... you have such a great personality and your countenance is so joyful. I sound like a broken record, but it is true and we just want you to know without a shadow of a doubt that you bring so much JOY into our home. You are such a gift, we do not deserve the right to have you as our little girl... and so we are just so humbled that we actually get this opportunity - and do not take for granted our little blessing from the Lord.

So, you are starting to figure out what is going on when I take your picture in your chair.... you wanted in on the action today! Tell everyone how old you are, little girl!
We went to the doctor on December 2, and you weighed 12lbs, 1oz (20%); you are 25.25in tall (80%); and your head is 40.2cm around (30%)... basically you are our tall little string bean. But don't get me wrong, you have got amazing little thunder thighs... we LOVE them! You and Penny have a Love / Hate relationship... you really wanted to hold your sign :).
And you are over it... look at this little, darling face... I could just squeeze those cheeks!
No literally, I am DONE momma. You started teething this month... so our amazing little sleeper has changed her routine to as follows: 7:45am - Wake up and eat / 8:30-9:00am - Nap / 10:15-30am - Wake up and play, eat, play / 12:45-1:00pm - Nap / 2:45-3:00pm - Wake up and play, eat, play / 4:45 - 5:00pm - Cat nap / 5:30pm - Wake up and eat, play, eat, play / 7:45pm - Bedtime / 10:30pm - Dream Feed... now if you asked me about two weeks ago, I would say "and that's it... she is amazing!"... BUT, you started TEETHING. What does this mean? Go ahead and add a feeding at 2am, 4am, and a discontent baby at least one more time throughout the night... poor baby, poor Momma and Daddy. It also means a LOT of slobber, drool and hands in the mouth :).
You have SO much fun when you play... little girl, you play hard whenever you are awake... we either sing songs, read books, go on walks or recently we brought out your Exersaucer... and you could not love it more!
You still are VERY aware of the camera... I always try to get action shots of you, but as soon as you hear that click, you put on your camera face.... our little model the camera loves you!
You have started to have STRANGER DANGER... if someone wants to hold you and they aren't Momma or Daddy you will give them a chance, but about one minute later you just let out the scream of a lifetime until we get you back. This normally only happens the first time you meet someone, so about an hour later, you love your new friends to hold you.... but if we are being honest, you are a DADDY'S GIRL!! You light UP when you see your daddy and often reach for him even out of Momma's arms.... I love watching you and Daddy together!
We celebrated your FIRST Christmas!! I will have to write up all about that separately because it was so fun... but look at our little miss Kringle.Your favorite game is "Peek-a-Boo".... not going to say that I love this, though... your favorite thing to do is to put your burp rag, lovie, or even blanket over your face and laugh and kick until we say "Where is Eleanor?"... you then pull it off and squeal. We are trying to un-teach you this game.... we are NOT fans of anything covering your face, so unless we are sitting with you... you have no toys to play with.... sorry!
Your Pop-Pop, Papa Dot, or Grandpa Mike (whatever we end up calling him) has started another very bag game with you... he lets you play with his watch... and YOU LOVE IT. You love it so much now, in fact that whenever Momma wears her big watch that is all you want... even if you are eating... however, you definitely prefer gold to silver. Good job Grandpa, we will let you feed her need.
For Christmas you got 2 little baby dolls - and YOU LOVE THEM. When you aren't trying to eat them (again the teething) or cover your face with them (again the peek-a-boo game) you just hug and squeal for them!
You are starting to have great hand / eye coordination... we think you may be left - handed, because you love to do everything initially on the left side.... but any toys we give you, even when we give you your paci... you love to hold and study them!
You are still a big football fan... no lie, you actually stare at the TV when we are watching a game... I don't know if it is the noise, the lights, the colors... but only on gameday do you focus in on the TV... again, cue Daddy's girl (keep it up little poop, and I am pretty sure you will get a pony when you are 5).
We had a lot of Christmas parties over the course of this month, and you had your very first babysitter (I don't consider your grandparents babysitters?!). Julie kept you and Lucy Kate one evening... she said she loved it, but we will have to wait and see if that happens again... thank you Julie!
You have started to figure out that you can take your bows off of your head... a sad day for this Momma, because you never leave the house without one, however you also rarely arrive to our destination with it still on...
On December 12, you rolled over... like 360's all over the living room floor! You would roll completely around and then look at us like you did something wrong until we would clap and then you would just giggle and smile, so proud of yourself!
Little button, you are so freaking cute.
Even though we seem to call you Little Girl, Little Poop, or Punkin Pie all of the time, you have learned your name! Whenever we say Eleanor, you look up and give us this sweet smile... no matter what you have been doing!
Tummy time is getting better... I really would have thought that you may be an early crawler, but girlfriend you do not spend enough time on your tummy to even begin to learn about moving... I think the max we have seen you go is 8 minutes... which is exponentially longer than ever in the past... good job lady!
You do love looking at your legs though... you will watch them move up and down slowly... I think you are realizing that you control your movements... I LOVE watching you learn!

You also went to your fair share of Christmas parties... and of course, you are always a hit. I don't know how much longer it will be appropriate to show pictures of you on your changing table... but as long as it is still your favorite activity, I will do it. Some of our greatest laughs and conversations happen when we are changing you... you blow bubbles, you tell us all about your dreams, you laugh and coo, you are awesome.Little girl, in a season where the entire world reflects on their many blessings, we cannot help but to celebrate YOU in our lives. You are the best Christmas present anyone could ever receive... having you in our family has made our family so much better. I don't want to ever think of a day where you are not in it... you give me us so much JOY just by being you and nothing you could ever do will change that. We can't wait to see the way that the Lord uses YOU in this life - we believe you will accomplish GREAT things... I pray that your joyful, sweet countenance is just a foreshadowing of the way you will live your life... we pray that you love others, your parents, your family, your future siblings, your friends and even strangers the way that you experience life now... oh the way He will use you. You are LOVED little girl, SO loved.
