39 Weeks...

Image
Hopefully this will be my last post with a belly pic... but you know what, at this point I just will not be surprised if we find ourselves here again next week! I have to admit, this week has been one of the most enjoyable (minus our Babymoon ) of the entire pregnancy.... it has been filled with SO much! Like I said last week, I am officially on maternity leave, so without having a baby it has been crazy to see how my days fill up... I figure a play-by-play is necessary, mainly for my memories (You can stop reading after Friday): Friday: Went to my 39th week appointment and received some unfortunate news... my cervix is currently facing backwards so my doctor could not tell me whether or not I am dilated... this also means that a C-section could be in our future if it doesn't move... BUT IT CAN MOVE and we ask you to join us in praying that it already has! Saturday: I don't remember what I did, so apparently, it was a pretty low key and good day... oh wait, I did laundry. Excit

Somewhere Only We Know....

Tonight, the love of my life has given me one of the greatest gifts I honestly have ever received... in lieu of a "Mother's Day" present, BJ gave me tickets to the KEANE concert. I am not joking, this is the best gift I have ever received... why you ask? KEANE is my absolute favorite band in the entire world.... if you have not heard of them, they are a small, "indie", band from the UK... anyways, they rarely come to North America (when they have in the past it has typically been to Canada or the Portland, OR area) and I have NEVER had the chance to see them live. BJ promised me that whenever they journey back to the States, he would take me... regardless of where they were playing, we would get on a plane and go.... NO PLANE NEEDED!! Tonight, yes tonight, KEANE is playing at the Dallas House of Blues .... doors open at 6pm, and we will be there at 6pm. I CANNOT WAIT. Baby Rector, I can't believe I am saying this... but STAY PUT for at least the next 14 hou

38 Weeks...

So, I am a little behind, but this picture was taken during my 38th week! This picture makes me look pathetic, but unfortunately, I just have felt really uncomfortable this week, and well, this documents my attitude pretty accurately! However, what a great week it was... most notably, we celebrated Mike and Dot's 40th Anniversary! It was such a great day filled with family and friends... all of us kids created a scrapbook that spelled out 40 reasons why we love our parents, why they are better together than apart, and why we are so thankful for their marriage... we followed this with a small surprise party at their house.... every Sunday we spend the day at their home, so this week, we just invited 60 of their closest friends to surprise them! It was so fun! We REALLY thought we would meet Baby Rector during this week... my contractions were constant (meaning I would have them everyday) and we were just sure that meant baby was coming... well, we were wrong! Not only BJ and I, but

40 Years of Wedded Bliss....

Just a quick CHEERS to my awesome parents, Dot and Mike Gross, who yesterday celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary!! I am so completely blessed by having such amazing parents with an amazing marriage, relationship, love and faith that truly is an example to the world around them.... they literally are two individuals who are so much better than apart! We had such a great day celebrating them with friends and family.... I will have to post on this later... but just wanted to say another HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the best parents in the world! You are SO loved and the two of you have a love that everyone envies!!

37 Weeks...

This week was honestly just marked with a whole lot of curiosity... my contractions are starting to get a lot worse, and so some days I am just beyond uncomfortable... meaning everyday I walk around thinking "Could this baby come today??" FINE BY ME - I can't wait to meet Baby Rector! And as you can tell by the two pictures above... Aunt Mindy is back from Zambia!! Look at her cute bump.. she still has quite a bit to grow before she catches up with Momma Rector, but we thought this could be one of our last chances to get a "belly" picture together! Mindy is 26 Weeks, and well, I really am closer to 38 in this picture, because we took it on Wednesday :)... I am just so blessed that I have one of my best friends going through this amazing life change at the same time. I can't wait to see our kiddos grow up together!! This week BJ and I just really enjoyed being together... it is hard to believe that soon enough it will no longer be just the two of us... we fe

Heavenly...

If you know me well, you know that I can think of no other pastry(ies) I would rather devour than Cinnamon Rolls. Literally, I crave them... especially ones that are as big as my face... and I have been known to down up to 4, yes 4, in one sitting. This past spring, BJ and I joined a community group at the Village Church ... and not only has it been so good for our souls, it is also here where my passion for beloved cinnamon rolls has been ignited once again. Thanks to my new, dear friends I have discovered the greatest cinnamon roll recipe on the planet (and I am NOT an easy please). A few girls in our small group often boast about their undying devotion to The Pioneer Woman ... someone, until recently, I had no regard for at all. Well my friends, this has all changed. I am on TPW band-wagon... and all I have sampled are her cinnamon rolls. One taste and I was hooked - I mean, just look at them!!! Last night, our small group celebrated the debut of Baby Rector (due in 2 weeks) and the

Maternity Pics...

Around about 32 weeks, BJ and I had the opportunity to take some maternity pictures with our wedding photographer, David Edmonson ! I thought I would share just some of the raw images.... note: these have not been touched up... so it is just a fun preview of what we will have touched up and put in the front of our Baby's book... thank you David, we love you! Is Baby Rector a BOY? Or a GIRL? One of these pictures will be the very front page of our baby book.... with the name and birthday of our precious BABY!! Oh you know, just pretending that I am drinking coffee... I thought my belly was big then.... Baby getting kisses... Baby Mama getting kisses..... There really are tons more... but how to choose? Thank you, David... can't wait for you to capture our little one in pictures...!

Pretty similar week this week.... a lot of pain, little sleep and an aching back... oh joy! Don't let that smile fool you... Baby Rector was kicking me REALLY hard when we were taking our photo of the week this week! We did get to celebrate the 4th of July this past weekend - we enjoyed America's birthday by grilling out with the families, laying around in the pool and just relaxing! Sadly enough, the only fireworks we saw were driving back home from my parents that night... it seems like almost all of my 4th of July's have been that way... on the way home from the lake, or something, where I just watch fireworks from the highway! Next year, we will make sure you get to see some really great fireworks, baby! I think you will LOVE them! Funny enough that we celebrated our FREEDOM this weekend... because that is what we pray over you this week... that you will find true FREEDOM in Christ! It breaks my heart to know that so many people are detered by Christianity because they

So, not the best of weeks... it was really busy at work, which really is not a bad thing other than my excessive fatigue, it was just more of a challenge! Only one more wedding to go... woohoo!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY JOB, it is just definitely harder on me to be on my feet for so long now that I am getting closer to my due date! The real reason why this was not the best of weeks is that I am UNCOMFORTABLE - I really cannot complain about the majority of my pregnancy, minus the first trimester sickness (oh that was rough), I have felt fabulous! But this week something changed... I can't catch a full breath, I can't sleep, and well, I am having contractions!! I went to the doctor on Wednesday and was explaining to him the pain I was experiencing trying to figure out if this was all normal... and well, while we was doing my exam listening to the baby's heartbeat, I started contracting... so he verified that is why I am probably uncomfortable :)! What this means: N
