Hawaii 2011 - Day Seven and Eight....

On Saturday, we decided to stay at the beach all day and take advantage of one last full day of lounging, sun and swimming.... by the end of the week, Eleanor was kickin' her sunglasses regularly. She totally adapted to island life - which is good, because Momma and Daddy plan for her to spend lots of her summers with toes in the sand... somewhere!

Eleanor was ALL about playing in the sand... you never know how babies will respond to the "mess", but she couldn't get enough.... so naturally, bath time was REAL fun for Eleanor. Building sand castles... or hills, whatever...

That evening, we ate at Mala Ocean Tavern... it is quite the dive, but still such a wonderful menu and exquisite view.....  when we golfed with the locals they told us this place was a must, and they were right (still no Lahaina Grill, but one we will definitely repeat...) We didn't set up reservations, so we had about a 20 minute wait, and well, Eleanor was not having it. Apparently, neither was Momma.
 
At least we had the sunset.... Dinner, yet again, proved to be trying to Miss Eleanor.... this picture makes one think that we might have actually had success feeding her and enjoying the evening... false. Daddy and Momma switched back and forth again taking her out to see the water... grr. After dinner we went back to the villa, put Little miss to bed and Momma worked on packing before we got in another round of 42... yep, we are oh so boringly, but awesomely predictable.

Sunday morning was the day we dreaded most: leaving. It is always so sad to say goodbye to Maui, it has become our favorite little spot and we are so blessed to have had the opportunity to go as often as we do... this trip was by far one of our favorite memories there, so we hated to see it end. So much fun with the grandparents, and a world of memories that we will forever cherish with Eleanor... here's to hoping for more memories in the years to come!

We checked out and headed to Kapalua so BJ could get himself and Pa-Paw and Grandpa polos from the club (again, proof he played the course I guess), we went up to take pictures at Honolua bay (but it was raining, so we scratched that) and then headed to another must-eat restaurant on the other side of the Island in Paia. Flatbread Company Pizza is SO SO SO good and wouldn't you know it, it was Eleanor's favorite meal of the entire trip (surprise, surprise). And unfortunately, this is the only picture I have from lunch. Odd.
 After lunch, we walked around Paia, got gelato and headed to some surfing spots to watch the locals.... it was probably the ugliest day we had in Maui, just so humid and overcast, but we made the most of it.

We headed to the airport around 3pm, turned in the rental car, boarded the plane and were off by 5pm... Eleanor was a CHAMP on the way home. She ate a bottle at take off, played with us all for about an hour or so, then completely CONKED out and slept until we arrived in Dallas! We landed at 4:59am (glorious) and Mindy was so generous to pick us up and bring us home. Eleanor (and Momma and Daddy) went straight to bed and woke up refreshed and ready for life back on the mainland... Mahalo, Nanna and Pa-Paw for a great week on the beach!

The Sister of Honor...

Its time for our readers to get to know some of our bridal party... and there is no better place to start than with your maid of honor!   For those of you who don't know my younger sister Katie, growing up she was my sidekick, my stage-hand, my monkey that would bang the cymbals if I asked.... basically, if I was the center of attention, she was right there to introduce me, applaud me, or be my partner in crime.   So now as we have both "grown" up, and its time for me to make the biggest decision of my life, it means the world to me that there Katie will be.... right by my side, my-stage hand, making me look better and supporting me as I change my last name once and for all.
