Bridesmaids of Honor

Image
I wanted to write about why I chose each of my bridesmaids before BJ and I got married, but oh well... at least it made it to the program.  Instead of retyping this info, I thought I would share with the blogger world some of their glamour shots.... I know they will love this. (Please note: the order of their appearance is in alphabetical order by last name, that is all.) Katie - you're just my teeniest little tiny. Cari  - some call me sassy. Jana - our flirty little doctor :) Kristen - where are you looking pretty lady? Lucy -  you put your hand upon your hip, when i dip, you dip, we dip. Paige - ah lean back, lean back... Julia - you could never tell she just had twins. Carol - just like the gold medal podium, looking at that American flag. Mindy - get it girl. Gillean -just a beauty. Jenna - our reader, and my silly little sister My youth girls! - this makes me want to cry

There went the bride, da dum di dum...

This blog is dedicated to my 5 readers who keep pestering me for an update: Well, the title of this blog is no longer legit-- it is no longer the blog belonging to the future Mr. and Mrs. William Rector, because I am officially Mrs. William Joseph Rector, II!!!  If you were unable to join the celebration on the most joyous day of BJ and I's life.... continue reading, for I have to share the story that tells of the greatest day of our lives. It is so funny, millions of girls every year spend so much time and energy building toward this one day... you dream of it being exactly the way you had always hoped.  It's crazy I know, but I admit, it was worth all the time, stress and meetings: BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!   For me, I had always wanted to get married in the church where Maria from Sound of Music did.... the big cathedral with a booming pipe organ and accompanying musicians.  The trumpet would pay as I entered with my dad on my arm, me and my groom both tearful as I look from unde

My Best Man

Well Dad this is to you. You are the best man in my wedding. I love you. My dad grew up as one of eleven kids, so he knows a lot about a lot of things. You can not be 1 of 11 and not figure out how to survive, how to compromise and how to be a good leader or follower. My dad has taught me all of the above. Sometimes he meant to teach those things, but sometimes he did not. I remember one time I got in trouble and had to write sentences about something. After I finished most of them he sat down and talked to me and told me about manners and stuff. The only thing I took away from that whole "lesson" was, "you look people in the eye when they are addressing you." And so I do. Rather, I try. Another time we were at a tree job, dad worked his own tree business for a little while, and the lady [customer] came out and said she wanted all the saw dust cleaned up because she was allergic. I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I had heard, that day. But dad looked at m

Happy Birthday to the man, my man... BJ Boo Boo Bear

That's right readers... today, YES today, is William Jonathan's (haha!) birthday.  It is time to celebrate, rejoice, and admire the man that God has created in our beloved BJ.  If you know BJ, you know that today is a reason to celebrate him.... if you don't... well, let me give you a few reason why you should: He looks great in girl shorts..... this is good for a family on a budget.   He loves his music... it could be classic rock, indie emo ballads, worship, or love songs... this boy will sing at the top of his lungs (and with passion) if he really likes a song. I appreciate that he really does have good taste in music, so this is a endearing quality.  This picture represents a 2-fold reason to celebrate BJ.   1. The color orange-- not many people are as obsessed with the color like BJ... he loves orange like a girl loves pink. 2. When he pouts, it is quite ridiculous.... and really cute too. Um.... sometimes BJ thinks he is hard core... look at this picture.  Who is he t

The Sister of Honor...

Image
Its time for our readers to get to know some of our bridal party... and there is no better place to start than with your maid of honor!   For those of you who don't know my younger sister Katie, growing up she was my sidekick, my stage-hand, my monkey that would bang the cymbals if I asked.... basically, if I was the center of attention, she was right there to introduce me, applaud me, or be my partner in crime.   So now as we have both "grown" up, and its time for me to make the biggest decision of my life, it means the world to me that there Katie will be.... right by my side, my-stage hand, making me look better and supporting me as I change my last name once and for all. Just so we are clear, there was, however, one time when I was furious that Katie shared my stage.... when I was about 6 years old I was determined I would be a childhood star.  So my parents, indulging me in this dream, let me audition for a kids movie called "The Donut Man".  Katie, 3 at th

Now this game of tag is fun....

Kimbo Collins White has tagged us..... and after reading her last post, it got my mind thinking of who I would put down as the answers to the pensive questions asked: 1. Who are my favorite people in the world? My best friend Phil Wickham--I pretty much spend time with this guy everyday... call me a creeper.  But seriously, I find such great joy in his praise... if you haven't discovered this musical talent, I highly encourage you to trust my advice and go ahead and buy all of his albums. Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo--You have got to be freaking kidding me!  Where have they been the past 3 seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance"???  They have absolutely made this show the best on television--- if you missed some of their choreography... YouTube these numbers: "No Air" and "Bleeding Love"... just to get you started. Jim Halpert--now I know that this is kind of a cliche, because who doesn't think he is adorable, but yes.... small crush. Mary-Kate and As

Iphone SHMIphone Obsessions

Image
So many of you may already know this--but BJ loves Apple.  I mean I feel like he is passionate about their products, moderately obsessed, and just ridiculous sometimes if you ask me.  It could be regarding a computer, an ipod, or the Iphone.... once he starts talking, just know you will be chatting a while..... Today I was thinking about how much money we have given Mr. Apple and so let me just share all of the his products that BJ and I have collected and now have in our possession (this is sick, and I bet you all have even more!): 40G Generation 2 Ipod 80G Video Ipod 30 G Video Ipod Nano Ipod 2 Shuffles 2 MacBooks 2 Generation 1 Iphones... well, that is until today. About one month ago, BJ told me he was going to sell his Iphone and buy the new one when it came out... how ridiculous (I thought).  Who needs a new Iphone when not even a year ago we got them?  Apple... oh the tease you are.  Ridiculous until I found out that we could sell our phones, get new ones, and probably profit in

Where does the term tagging come from anyway...I thought that was graffiti slang?

What I was doing 10 years ago... I was about to make a move down to College Station and enter my second year of junior college, though the first year I do not count. It was a trial run of sorts. A Little Bit About... Karen Michael Gross

BJ and I have been tagged! And well, keeping in step with true blogger fashion, we will comply with this game passed by our dear friend, Mindy. What I was doing 10 years ago... Around July 1998 I actually worked at ASI Gymnastics in Addison, Texas.  Now, if you are one of my friends who took tumbling with me in college, you may very well be wondering WHY in the world they would hire me!  I was leading birthday parties and small summer camps for like 3 year olds--so I could keep up :).... other than that, I remember spending a lot of time laying out, heading to Kanakuk, and probably spending hours with Julia, Caroline, Jaclyn and Ashley. 5 things on my to-do list today... Managing our clients Save the Date personal deliveries to her guests, ordering more Baccarat hearts for these glorious Save the Dates, helping deliver these Save the Dates, paying my floral and cake deposit for OUR wedding, and getting home to Maebe (Ben and Kristen's dog) that I am housesitting this week! Snacks

So, we had engagement pictures last week... and well.... here are some that will not make the cut! Our photographers are Luke and David Edmonson , and we are really excited about how great most of these came out.  They just took about 3000, and so, there were bound to be SOME that would make us laugh.. so, enjoy! What is BJ looking at??  Getting fresh.. eh! So, when told to strike a pose.... here are some differences in our interpretations! It was WAY to bright and hot... in fact, I had a little fainting spell (um, ya... embarrassing) "I have to marry HER??" (thanks BJ!) I don't remember what he had just said, but BJ can be one funny boy...! oh my gosh.... what are either us of doing??? okay... show is over folks... get outta here!!!
